KITCHEN REMODELING

KITCHEN RENOVATIONS FOR YOU
Are you planning on renovating your existing kitchen? Will you be looking to hire a home improvement  company that renovates kitchens in your area? Where do we start. Your remodeling project has to be done exactly the way you want but you're not sure where to begin. They say that the kitchen is the one room in the house that has the most use. It is also one of the most costly rooms to renovate for a home improvement project. Consider, most other rooms need just a coat of paint, put up some crown molding, add a new rug or even sand the hardwood floors and  that's it. In most cases the kitchen on the other hand needs a complete renovation from the ground up. This consists of new cabinets, countertops appliances and flooring. When your kitchen is removed down to the wall studs, it usually exposes all the nonconforming issues that won't meet code such as dated wiring and faulty plumbing. This needs to be updated but the good thing is since the kitchen is now in the early planning stage involving possibly an addition you can now relocate your kitchen floor plan to a more effective, logical layout that works for you.
HIRE A KITCHEN PLANNER
Hiring a kitchen planner can save you a lot of time. They will decide the exact location of all the new cabinets and utilities. Most home improvement companies can provide  you a kitchen planner that they work with. You can go to a custom cabinet maker, a local cabinet wholesaler or even Home Depot or lowes. At this early stage, you will need to decide on the budget that you have set aside for your kitchen expansion and or kitchen renovation. Your kitchen planner will show you the cabinets that fall into your budget. Once you have decided on your cabinetry choice, the planner will piece the kitchen together. After your approval, a floor plan will be generated and printed for your builder to use. This kitchen blue print will be needed in order to disclose to your contractor where the newly located utilities will need to be installed.
KITCHEN EXPANSION
After the kitchen has been stripped down, your home remodeling contractor will need to start installing your utilities such as wiring , plumbing and hvac. If you have a kitchen expansion built,  opening  an archway into the new extended kitchen will give you greater space for your layout planning. When opening your archway, I highly recommend a raised header ( the term is a "flitch plate" ) so your ceiling heights match from the old room into the new room . This gives the ceiling a nice smooth flow and makes it less noticeable that the addition was put on.
What size Kitchen renovation -expansion do I need? The answer is , every case is different. Many times rooms off the back of homes range anywhere from 200 square feet to 600 square feet just for a new kitchen. Every case is different. Your home improvement contractor will be able to help you decide. Most new kitchens have islands now. In order to accommodate an island, the kitchen needs to be extended bigger than what they used to be years ago. Ninety percent of new kitchen floor plans have the island with a rinse sink, microwave and even wine coolers all built inside the island. When the counter tops are installed, the top is extended past the lower cabinet so that stools can be placed and now the island can be used as an eating area. Throw in some pendant lights and it's a hip station to hang out at and have a glass of wine Friday night after work.
